Sweden’s Bunkers

With no domestic sources of fossil fuels (well – except for wood of course), there has always been a push in Sweden to go for local sources of energy. A fairly large number of reasonably sized rivers made hydropower an interesting alternative and large installations were made in the early 1900s. The main railways in Sweden were electrified from 1914 and onwards and at the time of WWII, a substantial coverage had been achieved by international standards. Today some > 95% of the rail transport effort is done with electric traction.

French poster for L’ATLANTIDE (Jacques Feyder, France/Belgium, 1921)
Artist: Manuel Orazi (1860-1934)
Poster source: WalterFilm
“In 1920 Manuel Orazi was called on to design the sets, costumes, and posters for the film adaptation of Pierre Benoit’s novel L’Atlantide. A story of a monstrous Queen Antinea, descendant of the rulers of Atlantis, it was a perfect fit for Orazi’s theosophy leanings. Orazi had already had a very distinguished career, which included posters for Sarah Bernhardt’s Theodora, Empress of Byzantium, jewelry and poster designs for the Maison Moderne, and various illustrated books by authors like Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Baudelaire, and Oscar Wilde.” –Nekokaiju

It seems like on Tumblr you can’t reblog an answer to a question from someone’s ask box (or at least I’m too old to figure out how), so I’m reposting this from my good friend, Korra Book 2 director, and cantankerous old fart, Colin Heck. The screengrab below is from me, another cantankerous old fart. Now excuse me while I go email Warpaint:
Dear Warpaint,
I can’t wait for your new album. I hear Flood is producing it. My body is not ready. I have too many feels. I know you are still working on the album, but please send me all the chords and lyrics right now. MUST. HAVE. NOW. K, thanks.
Lurv,
Bryan XD

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!!! Seriously, Tumblr cozins. What do some of you have against surprises? Anticipation? Delight in watching the story unfold?
Actually, I applaud 99% of you for being so very considerate about spoilers. (You, being the awesome dudes on my dash.) You follow the golden “no spoilers for two days” rule, and then some. I want to say I really, REALLY appreciate it and love you for it.
The 1% that couldn’t wait even half a day to post something w/o a cut got unfollowed in a second. Cause there are so few surprises left to me in the entertainment world these days, I have no patience for people who take them away.

Colin is grumpy.  Colin is on tumblr?!  Yay!

Amen, brother.
